What kind of training or exercises would you recommend for someone who wants to lose weight?
OK first of all: as far as both health and body composition are concerned, diet is everything.
Literally 99% plus.
Think about it; Even the best fat burning training won’t do you much good if the diet is out of whack.
And technically you can burn fat sitting on your butt all day simply by tweaking the nutrition-side of things.
Of course there are effective fat burning exercises, but they just help speed things up. Your number one concern should be nutrition, then training comes after that.
Another thing, any exercise or workout aimed at burning fat is optimally done when the body actually has a chance to do so; that means a fasted, carb depleted state. So a good time to do this is in the mornings before breakfast (which literally means ‘breaking the fast’)
Some effective exercises/workouts
Interval Training, example: my HITT and LIIT System
Body Weight Circuits, example: a beginner’s circuit
Weights Circuits, example: a simple yet effective routine
This should be plenty for you to be getting on with, it’s a very good start!
Note: what about the diet? I generally recommend a low fat, high carb plant based whole foods approach (or at least predominantly plant based, for those who can’t see their way quite yet to going all out on this).
