I’m an Olympic coach and I write on Training and Nutrition.
But sometimes I get questions about Iceland: the culture, the weather, the food, the people.
There seems to be quite a lot of interest in all things Iceland.
As you probably know: I live here because I really like land and people… Though sometimes they have weird habits, too.
So I thought: maybe write a regular column about that, on a weekly basis or so…

And now without further ado, here is the 1st of (possibly) many:
Today: Icelandic Traditional Foods, or: Would YOU eat this?!
The Icelandic athletes are strong, very strong. Is it the foods that they eat? Well I don’t think so.
In my estimation it’s the Viking forefathers and rough life, as well as the clean land, water, air.
There simply isn’t any pollution here, everything is pure and clean.
But back to the food. If you consider visiting, be warned: you might well have to go through a “Rite of Passage”, including weirdo stuff like eating rotten shark and chasing it down with “Brennivin” (Icelandic vodka).
